The Anatomy of a Build
There’s so much happening behind the scenes of Gregory Glandon Guitar Co to ensure my guitars meet the standard I have set and you deserve. To bring my exceptional production process to light, I have outlined the key features of a build. Keep reading to learn what goes into a build so that you can buy and play with confidence.
Wood Selection
The primary choice of wood for my solid body guitars is black limba. Its weight, density and resonance lies between alder and mahogany. But it is its natural beauty that sets my guitars apart from the industry norm.
I also routinely use mahogany and alder depending on the finish I am trying to achieve.
..And from a responsible conservation standpoint, I have very little waste and use remnants/scrap wood for other projects or cavity covers.
Neck and Tuners
The Premier, Endeavour and the restyled KnoxVegas models are fitted with 21 medium or jumbo fretted maple necks with rosewood fingerboard sourced from Mighty Mite then thoroughly inspected, frets leveled, edges rolled and conditioned to insure smooth playability.
Tuners are US made Grover nickel plated or Gotoh Schaller style.
Pickups and Controls
Most models receive the German made Schaller 3D hardtail bridge with its adjustable roller saddles, height and intonation capabilities. This enables you to get the perfect string action and intonation YOU want. A variety of high quality pickups are used in every build which may include the same producers as the big brand names and sometimes small US based custom pickup producers.
Precision assembly
From the initial template layout and hand routering to pickup location and scale length; careful attention is given to precise measurements and assembly to optimize the tone and playability of all models.
